Phoenix Bridge865 viewsLaunching of the steamship, Phoenix Bridge, at Newark 1918.
Photographed by M. Rosenfeld, New York, immediately after launching in 1918. She was built by the Submarine Boat Company, Newark, New Jersey, as their Hull 557. On 28 September 1918 the Navy Department directed that, when Phoenix Bridge was completed in October 1918, she was to be taken over for Naval Overseas Transportation Service operation, with the registry number ID 3767. However this was not done, and she remained in civilian hands.
